General Tour Map

1st day

Day 1 || Konitsa

The first day finds us in Konitsa, set in the unique and beautiful landscape of the Pindus mountains, beneath their highest peak, Gamila, beside the gorge of the Aoos river with its impressive stone bridge, and the majestic plain of Konitsa. After settling into your rooms in the afternoon, we will have a stroll through the small town and enjoy a coffee in one of its stunningly-located cafés. In the evening we will eat together in a local taverna. We then return to the guesthouse for a good night’s sleep after your journey.

2nd day

Day 2 || Konitsa - Bourazani - Molyvdoskepasti Monastery

After breakfast at the guesthouse, we will prepare for your first ride, which takes us along the plain of Konitsa to the Molyvdoskepasti Monastery with its fortress-like walls. It is set in a beautiful location, where the Aoos river meets the foothills of Mount Nemetsika. It is a relatively easy ride, passing through Bourazani after 11 km – a battlefield during the war against Italy (1940) and the Greek Civil War (1946-49) – and continues for 5 more easy kilometres to the monastery. We will have a tour of the inside of the monastery and enjoy a rest and a coffee in its courtyard. On our return, we will stop briefly at the local watermill and see how some locals still wash their carpets, blankets and clothes, without the use of detergent. We return to the guesthouse in Konitsa for lunch. After resting in the early afternoon we will take a short walk in the mouth of the Aoos gorge, and even have a dip in the river. We return to the guesthouse in the evening for dinner and rest.

3nd day

Day 3 || Konitsa - Aoos Gorge - Stomio Monastery

The third and final day is an enchanting hike along the gorge of the Aoos river. After breakfast, we set out on the path towards the Stomio Monastery. The hike takes about 70 minutes, with breathtaking views of the gorge. At our destination we will relax over a coffee or tea, have a tour of the monastery and visit the small room where the famous monk Saint Paisios lived for four years. After 5 km of our downhill return journey, we will stop for a dip in the waters of the Aoos. Then, after just a few more minutes of walking, we will arrive back at our cars. We say goodbye having had a real taste of the natural beauties of Konitsa.
