1st day

Day 1 || Ano Pedina

Having arrived in Ano Pedina and settled into the hotel, we will wander through the old neighbourhoods of the village, ending up at a traditional taverna for a dinner of delicious local food and drink.

2nd day

Day 2 || Ano Pedina - Elafotopos

After a hearty, homemade breakfast, your guide will assist you with the E-bikes before taking you for a 6 km ride through the natural landscape to the village of Elafotopos. There we will meet Lena, who will have prepared a cooking lesson, in which you will learn how to make a tradition Zagorian cheese pie. While the pie is cooking, she will show you her old looms and explain the process of wool production and processing. You will even be able to make your own souvenir out of felt. We will then eat our pie all together, alongside salads of fresh vegetables straight from Lena’s garden, washed down by a glass of tsipouro or wine. Depending on the time of year, you will also be able to visit the stables where Lena keeps her animals, and watch – and even try for yourself! – the milking of sheep and goats, as well as the production of butter or cheese. After saying goodbye to Lena, we will visit Michalis, who has a museum of traditional crafts in the old school of the village. It still remains a ‘school’, as it takes its visitors back in time to teach them about the old crafts that are no longer practised and have been largely forgotten. After this rewarding experience, we will cycle 6 km (largely downhill) back to the Ano Pedina, where we will spend the night again, after eating all together in one of the village tavernas.

3nd day

Day 3 || Ano Pedina - Koukouli - Kipoi

After a traditional breakfast at the hotel, we get on the bikes again and head for the famous villages of Kipi and Koukouli. The route begins with an easy ride to our first stop – the magnificent ‘Kokoris’ stone bridge. A few kilometres later we come to the village of Koukouli. There we will visit a traditional Zagorian house that belonged to an old teacher, Kostas Lazaridis, and is now a museum of natural history. We will see his collection of over 1250 samples of medicinal plants and herbs of the region, which were used in the past by the so-called ‘Vikos Doctors’ for medicinal purposes. Then we will cycle another 4 km to the village of Kipi, where we will stop to visit the three-arched ‘Plakida’ (or ‘Kalogeriko’) stone bridge and the ‘Kontodimos’ (or ‘Lazaridis’) bridge, before having lunch in a restaurant in the village. We then return to Ano Pedina along a beautiful 14 km route.

4th day

Day 4 || Ano Pedina - Elati - Dikorfo

This day begins, of course, with a hearty breakfast, before we get on the E-bikes again for a trip to the villages of Dikorfo and Elati. It is an easy ride but includes impressive changes of scenery. After 7 km we reach the village of Elati, built amphitheatrically on the wooded slopes of Mount Mitsekeli, with a view towards the mountains and forests of Mount Tymfi (the highest in Zagori). We will enjoy the view over coffee, before visiting the church of St. George, built in 1806. We then continue on the E-bikes for a further 10 km through a lush forest of beech, fir, hazel and oak trees to the village of Dikorfo, built on a pass that looks out over all the mountains of the region, from the limestone ‘Astraka’ towers and the mouth of the Vikos Gorge to the distant peaks of Vasilitsa. The traditional fountains, running with spring water, combined with wild nature, make this a typical Zagorian village. Dikorfo’s village square with its old school seems to be taken from a theatre set. We will have lunch in a traditional taverna serving local specialities, before heading back on an easy ride through stunning landscape to Ano Pedina. There you will say goodbye – for now! – to wonderful Zagori!
